Usually, one person handles training, another handles meals, and the two never talk to each other. In Lyon, Mathys Baudy does both, with a qualification for each: a STAPS degree and a dietetics BTS.
Precision matters: “dietitian” is a protected title under the law, which requires a qualification and registration with the State. He has both.
In May, he ran the HYROX in Lyon. The format: eight times a kilometre, and after each kilometre a station — sled, rower, weights to carry, with no downtime. His pair finished in 1 h 02 min 15 s, 184th out of 2 645 teams.
The detail that stopped us in our tracks: 139th on the kilometres covered, 421st on the strength workouts. Translation: first and foremost, he’s a runner.
He’s not a professional athlete and he doesn’t claim to be. He’s a qualified coach who runs for real.
