After a first edition that attracted more than 2,000 participants, La Baleine en Course returns for a second edition in the Aigues-Mortes salt flats. The races and courses are announced for 12 and 13 March 2027, bringing the event back to the heart of a site regularly dedicated to salt harvesting.
For the 2027 edition, the event expands its programme by offering nine race formats, from a 1-kilometre distance for children to an ultra of 58 km. The organisers also present the goal of showcasing the Camargue landscapes in a different way, between wild expanses and pink waters, in direct connection with the salt flats setting.
Backed by the French salt brand La Baleine, the event invites participants to run through a site usually devoted to salt harvesting. Runners move in particular among the salt tables, described as basins where seawater concentrates before the harvest, with ponds and the Mediterranean coastline in the background.
The 2027 programme also includes a specific format on Friday evening: Duo Sel & Poivre. This 16 km night race is run as a pair, with no relay, under a rule presented clearly: each team-mate must complete the entire course alongside their partner, with a mention of mandatory front lighting.
Finally, the organisers specify that the events are contested mainly on paths. The text indicates that they are neither completely road nor completely trail, and highlights courses described as particularly fast-flowing and accessible to everyone, before directing readers to registration on the event website.
