This Sunday 27 September, more than 1,000 runners took the start of the 54th edition of the 100km of Millau. The event takes place in Aveyron, on a course that blends the Tarn, the Causses and the famous Viaduc, in fine late-summer sunshine. Described as both historic and iconic in Europe, the race was seen as offering renewed spectacle for its 54th edition.
The victory was won by Michael Bouche, with Stéphanie Gicquel taking the women’s honours. Among the men, the 37-year-old Picard native was discovering this distance for the first time, while still being presented more as a marathon specialist. He crossed the finish line in 6h57, ahead of Toni Caporale (7h10) and Gabriel Noutary (7h17).
In the women’s race, Stéphanie Gicquel produced a standout performance by winning the 100km of Millau for the third time. After her wins in 2023 and 2025 with records, she improves again by completing the 100 km in 7h58’25. That time makes her the first woman to break the 8-hour barrier in this event.
The race also forms part of a wider project for Stéphanie Gicquel. At 44 years old, the text says that this 100km of Millau was a step in her quest for the athletics world record in ultra-distance running. She will then have to take the start of a 100 miles per month at the end of the year and at the start of next year, in the United States, in North Carolina and Arizona, to prepare for the target.
