The International Skyrunning Federation (ISF) held its Annual General Assembly at the Council of San Sebastiàn de la Gomera, in the Canary Islands (Spain), on 17 September 2026, alongside the 2026 World Skyrunning Championships, with the start taking place the following day.
The meeting was chaired by Marino Giacometti (ISF President) and Pavlos Georgiades (Secretary General), with Alexander Keim, chair of the strategic plan committee, as well as members of the executive committee and the management committee.
The assembly presented a new strategic plan and approved fully restructured statutes, aiming for a stronger Federation after the challenges encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic, with finances now stable and the goal of setting up a headquarters with an employee.
For the youth categories, the Youth Committee presented an evolution: until 2026, the parameters were based mainly on distance and positive elevation gain, whereas from 2027 the finish time will become the main parameter in order to provide a safer environment, linked to physical maturation.
The revised statutes will have immediate consequences: they reduce the membership categories to three and restructure the executive committee, which requires new elections. An Extraordinary General Assembly was therefore convened for 16 December 2026 to elect the new leadership.
