The SKY race at the 2026 World Championships finished on a course of 29 km and 1,900 m of positive elevation gain, held on the island of La Gomera in the Spanish Canaries from 18 to 20 September 2026. This route formed the final leg of the SKYULTRA event, linking Hermigua (north-east of the island) to San Sebastiàn de la Gomera, on the Atlantic coast.
In the men’s race, Luca Del Pero took the lead after the last climb. With a final burst, he overtook Dimas Pereira and Fabian Venero before going on to win in 2h43’27”. Pereira took silver just over a minute later, while Dominik Tabor completed the podium.
In the women’s race, Patrycja Stanek led from the start. She opened up the gap near the midway point and held on despite a late-race attack from Eva Simonsen on the final descent. Stanek won gold in 3h20’29”, with Simonsen taking silver.
The country ranking was based on the points accumulated by the two best results, men and women, across the three disciplines. Spain, Italy and Japan lead this standings, repeating the 2024 scenario. Japan won bronze for the third consecutive time.
The total number of competitors was 270 athletes from 36 countries. The text also specifies that, in terms of participation in the points and medals, all 36 nations scored points, and 10 countries won medals. Finally, WADA anti-doping tests were carried out according to the ISF protocol in the SKYULTRA and SKY disciplines.
